[Request] Thoughts on plastic skate spinners and how to use them effectively

Hi r/FigureSkating, I’m looking for tips and suggestions on how to use an off-ice skate spinner effectively. A few months ago I bought a plastic spinner (not the ones with the rotating base) from my local pro shop, and have been using it a few times a week since, hoping that it will improve my forward scratch spin and back spin, which I’ve been working on for a while. So far I’ve noticed it has helped me get more used to balancing on one foot, but that’s about it. I’ve gotten good at spinning on the spinner, but my on-ice spins have plateaued (for example, I can do a scratch spin on the spinner, but still can’t get my free leg over on the ice). Also, I’ve noticed that the spinner is holding me back in some ways, including that the balance point seems to be more backward on the spinner vs. my skate blades, which leads to an adjustment period when I try to spin on ice.Does anyone have any tips or techniques for using an off-ice spinner to improve performance of spins on ice? Should I keep trying to use it or give up? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I’m working on axel prep soon and want to get my back spins at a good point asap.Thx in advance 🙂
