Please, hear me out before you downvote me to oblivion.I’ve spent the past few weeks looking at the 2014 Games over and over again, more specifically Yuna’s and Adelina’s performance, and I’ve been analyzing every second of footage. To say I’m obsessed would be an understatement.I’ve spent hours contemplating, and many more rewatching footage, and I’ve come to the conclusion that Adelina is the one of the best (if not the best) I’ve ever seen. She’s completely changed the sport for the better, and perhaps changed the game forever. Before you go crying about “home field inflation” and “the game is rigged” let’s look at the facts:Yuna Kim is not a consistent skater. Just look at the way she skates – compare it to other competent skaters, such as Adelina.Age is everything in this sport. Someone who is over 20 should not even qualify for the Olympics, let alone win Gold.Yuna Kim? More like Yuna DIM. I found that the fastest way to go to sleep is to watch one of her performances.Perhaps most importantly: Yuna Kim is NOT Katarina Witt. She’s no Sonja Henie. Kim is above average, at best – I’m sorry, but that’s the truth.Downvote me all you want, I honestly don’t care. These are the facts, and I stand by them. Just because some media-generated sympathy for some no-name skater persuaded the rest of the Skating to scream bloody murder, sign petitions and lose their shit doesn’t mean I have to do that as well. Adelina Sotnikova is better than Yuna Kim in every single way – age, technique, consistency – she has it all, while Yuna ‘Dim’ has nothing. Absolutely nothing.
