So I didn’t think I would be so invested in ice skating until now, and I’m 6 months in… and I’m in deep, to the point where I think I may need to upgrade my blades. I love my boots (Riedell 225– old model of 229 I think the guy told me) and I’m currently nowhere near doing all of my basic jumps, so I’m with it now.But here’s the thing: I bought John Wilson Excel blades, a recreational level blade. And I regret my decision because the guy asked me “are you sure” multiple times, and I said yes every time because I didn’t think I was going to be able to jump. So I’m stuck with them now.I can currently do waltz, toe loop and salchow with basic scratch spins. I’m not going to upgrade right now, of course, since blades can be expensive, but my coach told me that we’re going to start on loops and flips soon & I feel like my blades would hold me back a bit? (Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like they’re holding me back now too lol.)For context, I’m a 5’3" 120lbs, 20 y/o adult skater. Any suggestions / pointers would be greatly appreciated.
